Axial fans are nothing new. It is the oldest and most common fan style out there. And real physics is nothing different than you might expect. The fancy name simply means a fan that moves air on the same axis as the power supply for rotation. A few common applications you're familiar with are a box fan or a ceiling fan. Both applications push air parallel to the axis of rotation, and each adds increased airflow, cooling the area around it.

One of the most common is the cooling of the power supply of the machines. Axial fans are usually mounted on a motor, either to draw air to cool the motor or to remove hot air from the motor to cool it. Think of the radiator in a car. This is an axial fan.

Whether the air is being carried indoors or outdoors, axial fans are the tool for the job. They fit into relatively small spaces and can move high volumes of air when appropriate.

An axial fan is a balance in which air evacuation has to move parallel to the shaft at which the propellers spin. Centrifugal fans suck air at right angles to the inlet of the fan and rotate the air towards the outlet by deflection and centrifugal force. The impeller rotates allowing air to enter the fan from the side of the shaft and travel perpendicularly from the shaft to the opening in the fan housing. Axial fans replace the centrifugal fan in certain application areas and operate at higher speeds at smaller diameters.
