Hydrophobic filters are used to allow air to enter and exit storage tanks. Fresh air should be allowed to enter the tank as the tanks empty of liquid and air should be able to escape when the tanks are filled. The tank vent filter is designed to allow sufficient airflow to match the rate at which fluid is added or removed. By passing through a tank vent filter, the air is cleaned of dirt and microbial contaminants that can degrade the liquid in the tank.
